Dee View

Halkyn Mountain is an area of upland mostly consisting of common land, villages and small holdings. Since Roman times right up to the 1970’s the area has been extensively mined for its rich veins of lead ore.

Today the last mine is now closed, leaving a vast area of common land that is regularly utilised by walkers.

The Blue Bell Inn, situated in the village of Halkyn is the hub from which many organised walks by the walking group ‘Walk About Flintshire’ will start and finish.

This image was captured from the entrance of the car park to the Blue Bell Inn looking up the mountain along the B5123. The corrugated iron shed/garage on the left hand side features a cardboard sign ‘Dee View’.
