Misty Canal

In Chester the Shrophshire Union Canal leads down to the river Dee following the route of the older Chester Canal that was built in 1772 to connect Chester to Nantwich.

Here at Hoole Lane lock we can see through the mist to the Boughton Water Tower on the right hand side of the frame, built in approximately 1622 by John Tyer the water tower forms an impressive part of the Chester skyline.
